ABOUT

Home - girls day out

Girls Day Out are one-day events for girls aged 5-16 years to try new sports, meet professional female athletes, learn new skills and be inspired.

It’s all about giving girls a go at sports they might not have tried or want to learn more about. We want to encourage healthy bodies, healthy minds – and maybe even inspire our next generation of female superstars.

Our 45 minute, mini-clinics are small and focused, giving the young girls a high-energy, fun taste of sports offered locally in the Hunter and played by incredible female athletes at the highest levels.

The mini-clinics are run by professional sportswomen, top female athletes and coaching staff from the sporting codes. The athletes & staff running the clinics spend time with the girls teaching them the skills of the sport and talking about what it’s like to be a top-level sportswoman.

The young girls are given a chance to see these extraordinary athletes are normal humans, who have achieved their goals through hard work and determination. It teaches our young ones that their dreams are possible and achievable – whether that’s to play professional sport or to be anything they wish to be, because they are face to face with women who have made it happen!

GIRLS DAY OUT - WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!

After the practical side of the clinic, our athletes spend some time with the girls, answering questions, signing autographs and having photos taken. Girls can sign up for more than one mini-clinic, meaning they are able to learn from a variety of sportswomen across the day.

The goal of our event is to inspire the girls, to show them that they can ~ make anything possible ~ with passion, hard work, and determination, and to give them a chance to try a new sport that might become their new passion. It’s just about having a go.

We invite all young girls to come along have some fun and try one of the many sports on offer, including:

Surfing

with WQS Surfer's including Philippa Anderson, Kobie Enright & Sasha Baker alongside the Philippa Anderson Surf School

Soccer

with players from Newcastle Jets Wleague and Newcastle Olympic WPL

Rugby League

with Premiership winning Newcastle Knights NRLW team alongside side fellow NRLW players

Netball

with Sam Poolman and her Aspire program

Rugby Union

with players from Newcastle Wildfires, NSW Waratahs & Rugby Union Elite
